Ferrite Resources explores for zinc and lead in Piekar Śląskich
The Canadian-Australian company Ferrite Resources is conducting exploration for zinc and lead ores in the Piekar Śląskich region of Poland. The company has already completed nine deep drill holes, reaching depths of up to one kilometer, to assess local deposits.
Despite strong opposition from local authorities in Piekar Śląskich, the Ministry of Climate and Environment has upheld the concession allowing for further exploration. The city government has issued negative opinions and attempted to prohibit work on municipal land, but the company has proceeded with activities on private plots. While the current work is for exploration and recognition, there are concerns among residents and local officials that the discovery of significant deposits could lead to the reactivation of mining operations in the area.
