Ferromex freight train derails in Abasolo, Coahuila

A Ferromex freight train derailed in the municipality of Abasolo, Coahuila, during the early hours of Sunday at a location known as El Tapado. Approximately 15 wagons left the tracks as the convoy was traveling from south to north.

No injuries or fatalities were reported following the incident. Emergency responders, including personnel from the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), Civil Protection, and local police, attended the scene to secure the area.

Preliminary investigations suggest the derailment may have been caused by a failure or deterioration in a segment of the track that could not support the weight of the convoy, though technical inspections are required to confirm this hypothesis. The incident resulted in damage to several railway units and infrastructure, though the total material loss has not yet been determined.
