Ferrovie dello Stato announces Roma-Pescara railway upgrades

Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FSI) has outlined a strategic plan to enhance the railway connection between the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian coasts, specifically focusing on the Roma-Pescara line. During the Abruzzo Economy Summit, FSI President Tommaso Tanzilli emphasized the goal of reducing travel time between Rome and Pescara from the current three hours and twenty minutes to approximately two hours.

The plan includes increasing daily train services from four to ten and transforming the Chieti-Pescara section into an efficient surface metropolitan service. FSI stated that construction is already underway, with the first tangible results expected by 2028.

In response to these announcements, Nello Simonelli, the regional leader of Nazione Futura in Abruzzo, has called for greater transparency regarding the specific resources and timelines for the Rome-Avezzano section. Simonelli emphasized that while the overall project is positive, commuters in the Marsica area require clear details on how the upgrades will specifically benefit their daily travel and reliability.
