Emilia-Romagna allocates €30 million to combat energy and fuel costs

The Emilia-Romagna regional government has approved a budget variation to allocate €30 million to mitigate the impact of rising energy and fuel prices. The funds are divided between two primary sectors: €20 million for the regional healthcare service and €10 million for local public transport.

Energy management assessments within regional health agencies indicated a significant spike in energy expenditures, with costs rising by over €20.2 million compared to 2026 estimates and nearly €38.3 million compared to 2025 totals. Meanwhile, the public transport sector faces approximately €15 million in additional costs due to fuel and energy hikes, including nearly €8.9 million specifically for diesel.

Regional President Michele de Pascale emphasized that the intervention aims to protect essential public services, specifically health and mobility, during a complex economic phase. The measure, initiated by Budget Assessor Davide Baruffi, is set to proceed to the Legislative Assembly for approval by mid-November.
