Fertilia commemorates 90 years of history and foundation
Fertilia is preparing to commemorate the 90th anniversary of its foundation, marking nearly a century since the first stone was laid during the reclamation of the Nurra marshes. The event, scheduled for September 11, serves as a tribute to the pioneers of the reclamation and the families of exiles from Istria, Fiume, and Dalmatia who settled in the area.
A significant milestone of the celebration is the formal establishment of the 'Rete Nazionale delle Città di Fondazione - CITTÀ DEL ’900'. This national network is formed through an agreement between eleven Italian municipalities, including Latina, Arborea, Carbonia, and Fertilia-Alghero.
The network aims to transform shared historical memory into a project for urban and architectural heritage valorization. Key objectives include promoting rationalist culture, developing urban regeneration strategies, and supporting the candidacy of rationalist heritage for UNESCO World Heritage status.
