FESABAG: Five union delegations suspend collaboration
Five major union delegations affiliated with the Autonomous Syndical Federation of Banks, Insurance and Microfinance of Guinea (FESABAG) have officially suspended their institutional collaboration with the federation's current executive leadership.
The decision was made jointly by representatives from Vista Gui, Access Bank Guinea, AFG Bank Guinea, BPMG, and AMIFA Microfinance. In a formal notification, the delegations cited a breakdown in dialogue, noting that multiple attempts to initiate constructive discussions regarding the organization's governance and future have gone unanswered by the leadership.
The unions highlighted deep-seated dysfunction within the organization following the death of former leader Abdoulaye Sow. Key grievances include a lack of transparency, failure to respect the federation's statutes and internal regulations, and a lack of accountability. The signatories emphasized that while the suspension is not directed at any specific individual, the current conditions no longer allow for serene institutional collaboration. They are calling for improved information sharing, increased participation from grassroots representatives, and a return to the democratic principles governing the union movement in Guinea.
