FESFUT launches Liga de Ascenso Copa FOX for Salvadoran football

The Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT) has officially introduced the Liga de Ascenso Copa FOX, a new era for the country’s second-tier football competition. This initiative, established through an agreement with FOX Centroamérica for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 seasons, aims to professionalize clubs and players while increasing regional exposure through international broadcasting.

The competition will feature 24 teams divided into two regional groups: Centro-Oriente and Centro-Occidente. The regular season will consist of 22 matchdays, split into two rounds of 11 matches each. To promote youth development, the league has implemented specific roster regulations, including requirements for Sub-20 and Sub-27 players, alongside limits on older and foreign players.

FESFUT President Yamil Bukele stated that the federation is “highly committed to taking Salvadoran football toward professionalism.” Additionally, the federation has managed over $800,000 to support the project.
