Portuguese Communist Party celebrates 50th Festa do Avante

The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) celebrated the 50th edition of Festa do Avante! at Quinta da Atalaia. The political and cultural event featured approximately 70 activities, including political debates, music, and literature.

During the closing rally, PCP Secretary-General Paulo Raimundo delivered a speech warning the Socialist Party (PS) against enabling the State Budget. Raimundo argued that such support would provide the Chega party with more space to “continue to deceive the people” and would make the PS complicit in right-wing policies, including the dismantling of the National Health Service and attacks on public education and wages.

Raimundo also addressed international issues, expressing solidarity with the peoples of Venezuela, Cuba, and Palestine.
