Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty Highlights Women's and Black Children's Literature

At the 24th Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty, the São Gonçalo collective Coletiva Escritoras Vivas launched the handcrafted book “Artefata” during the Encontro de Saraus. The publication, produced in a workshop led by writer Yonara Costa, brings together poems by a group of women authors and was presented in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Culture and Sebrae.

During the same festival, the Casa da Favela program showcased literature for Black children. Writer Wesley Barbosa presented his debut “Os Barraquinhos da Favela,” stressing the transformative power of representation for peripheral youth, while Carlos Vieira introduced “Pedrinho e a Bola da Várzea,” using football to broaden imagined pathways for young readers.
