Festival America opens in Vincennes with focus on U.S. literature

The Festival America is opening in Vincennes, focusing this year on the United States in anticipation of the country's 250th anniversary. The event features approximately 60 American authors, marking what founder Francis Geffard describes as “the most important movement of American authors to Europe.”

In addition to the American guests, 10 French or French-American authors are participating. The festival includes about one hundred scheduled meetings covering diverse themes such as the American dream, democracy, civil rights, indigenous peoples, and the relationship between writers and the natural landscape.
