Festival dei Borghi opens in Sammichele di Bari
The 18th Festival dei Borghi, organized by the Borghi più belli d’Italia association, has commenced in Sammichele di Bari, Puglia. The event brings together administrators and institutions from across Italy to discuss the promotion, valorization, and development of small Italian communities.
Delegations from Abruzzo and Molise represent the largest group at the festival, with 20 municipalities participating to showcase their regional traditions, craftsmanship, and gastronomy. During the event, a regional legislative proposal was presented to support certified villages, a project led by a committee chaired by Fabio Caravaggio, the Mayor of Rocca San Giovanni.
Representing the Castelli Romani region, the village of Nemi is also participating in the national assembly. Mayor Alberto Bertucci highlighted Nemi’s unique tourism strategy, noting it is the only municipality in the association to maintain a dedicated billboard along the A1 motorway to capture high-volume traveler interest.
