Festival del Lago de Ypacaraí honors Flaminio Arzamendia

The 54th edition of the Festival del Lago de Ypacaraí in Paraguay is celebrating the city's 139th anniversary with a diverse program of music, dance, and theater. This year's festival is dedicated to the memory of Flaminio Arzamendia, the creator of the 'purahéi jahe’o' folklore style.

During the event, the Argentine group 40 Grados Folk was named Best International Artist for the second time, having previously received the honor in 2018. The Chaco-based ensemble performed Argentine folklore to a large audience.

The festival's closing activities include a central night honoring Arzamendia and a Rock Festival at the Lake. Established in 1971, the festival is a significant cultural landmark in Paraguay, though it was briefly suspended in 1986 during the Alfredo Stroessner dictatorship.
