Festival do Rio begins 28th edition with 350 films
The 28th edition of the Festival do Rio has commenced, running through October 11 in Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. The event features a diverse lineup of over 350 films, including feature films, shorts, and series from both national and international productions.
The international selection includes more than 100 titles that have been recognized at major festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Toronto, San Sebastián, and Sundance. Notable works include films by directors such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Asghar Farhadi, and Danny Boyle.
In the Brazilian selection, a highly anticipated documentary titled ‘Fernanda’, directed by Pedro Waddington, will explore the eight-decade career of actress Fernanda Montenegro. The festival also includes the ‘Première Brasil’ segment, which features documentaries about various Brazilian cultural figures, including Elza Soares, Ney Matogrosso, and Belchior.
