Festival do Rio to feature Berlin winner ‘Cartas Amarelas’

The Festival do Rio, taking place from October 1 to 11, will feature two prominent films from Autoral Filmes: ‘Cartas Amarelas’ (Gelbe Briefe) and ‘As Crianças estão Bem’ (Les Enfants Vont Bien).

‘Cartas Amarelas’, directed by Ilker Çatak, is the winner of the 2026 Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. The political drama follows a successful theater artist couple, Derya and Aziz Tufan, who face state persecution and job loss following an incident during a play premiere. Çatak developed the story by combining themes of marriage with real-world accounts of mass dismissals in Turkey.

‘As Crianças estão Bem’, directed by Nathan Ambrosioni, explores the concept of voluntary disappearance. The plot follows a woman who unexpectedly leaves her sister and young children to disappear without explanation, highlighting the legal and emotional complexities when no crime has been committed.
