Festival Internacional Pequeno Cineasta showcases youth films in Rio de Janeiro

The Festival Internacional Pequeno Cineasta (FIPC) is currently taking place in Rio de Janeiro, featuring film productions created by children and adolescents. The event is hosted across three locations: Teatro Municipal Carlos Gomes, Instituto Cervantes, and the Jardim Botânico, with free programming available to the public.

Among the competitors is 14-year-old Miguel Figueiredo Viglio, who is presenting his film ‘Circo dos Horrores’. Miguel began exploring cinema through stop-motion animation at age seven and has previously received recognition at festivals in Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, Italy, Portugal, and Germany. Another participant is 16-year-old Daniel Nini, who transitioned from theater to filmmaking after initially using a mobile phone to capture his early work.

A unique aspect of the festival is its jury system, where the Official Jury is composed of young people between the ages of 8 and 17, allowing them to participate directly in the selection of winners.
