Festival International de Géographie announces 2026 theme and literary winners

The 37th edition of the Festival International de Géographie (FIG) is scheduled to take place in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges from October 2 to 4, 2026. The theme for this upcoming edition is ‘landscape,’ with Bulgaria and Romania serving as the invited countries.

In conjunction with the festival, the FIG literary prizes have been announced. The awards recognize works that explore geography through diverse genres, including fiction and graphic novels. This year’s winners include Colin Niel for the Amerigo Vespucci Prize (a noir novel set in French Guiana), Charline Collette for the Amerigo Vespucci Jeunesse Prize (a children's book), and Lisa Hab for the Prix de la BD Géographique (a documentary comic book). Each winner receives 1,500 euros, and the laureates will be officially celebrated during the 2026 festival.
