Festival Noroeste Estrella Galicia in A Coruña introduces new accessibility measures for August shows

The XXXIX Festival Noroeste Estrella Galicia will take place in A Coruña from 5 to 9 August 2024, offering more than 40 free concerts across seven city venues including Campo da Leña, Plaza de Azcárraga, Plaza de María Pita, Santa Margarida, Castelo de San Antón, the Port and Riazor beach. On 3 August, local station CUAC FM will air a two‑hour live program reviewing the full lineup and recommending performances.

Mayor Inés Rey announced a set of accessibility initiatives to make the festival inclusive for people with disabilities. Measures include sign‑language interpretation, vibrating backpacks, magnetic loop devices, hearing‑protective helmets, accessible maps and reserved zones for reduced‑mobility attendees. Equipment can be borrowed at information points starting 90 minutes before concerts. The festival will also feature projects such as Banda Diversidarte, Freestyle People & Gallos del Norte and Orquesta Invisible, which are formed by artists with functional diversity. These steps aim to position A Coruña as a reference city for inclusive cultural events.
