Festival Odoyá brings Afro‑Brazilian culture to Paris

Festival Odoyá Afro‑Brazilian culture Saint‑Ouen Tom da Bahia Paris cultural event

The fourth edition of Festival Odoyá will take place on 18 July at the La Serre Wangari cultural space in Saint‑Ouen, Greater Paris. Organized by the Association Cultural Odoyá France and founded by former footballer Tom da Bahia, the free event is expected to attract around 20 000 visitors.

The program features more than ten hours of simultaneous activities, including music, dance, capoeira, batucada, gastronomy and religious ceremonies honoring the orixás Iemanjá and Oxum. Special guests include former Brazil captain Raí, ex‑midfielder Valdo, actress Cristiane Reali and Saint‑Ouen mayor Karim Bouamrane.

The festival aims to showcase Afro‑Brazilian traditions—especially those from Bahia such as samba de roda, ijexá and axé—and to strengthen cultural exchange between Brazil and France.
