Festival Villa del Cine rescheduled for October 2026

The 12th edition of the Festival Villa del Cine has been rescheduled to take place from October 14 to 17, 2026, in Villa de Leyva, Colombia. The event was postponed following recent forest fires that affected the region.

Under the theme ‘Caminos del Tiempo’ (Paths of Time), the festival is inspired by the Muisca calendar and ancestral roots, aiming to foster a dialogue between contemporary cinema and local heritage. Director Julián Díaz Velosa stated that the theme holds deeper meaning this year, serving as a way for the community to reconnect and rebuild through culture.

The programming will feature over 90 audiovisual works, including 68 films in competition across 14 categories and 22 non-competitive works. Participants will compete for the ‘Tunjo’ award, crafted by master goldsmiths from Ráquira. Screenings will be held at various local landmarks, including the Pérez Rojas Gallery, the Antonio Nariño Museum, and the Mesón de los Virreyes Hotel.
