Festival150 app adds Wagner audiowalk and swipe-based event matcher in Bayreuth

The Festival150 app, the official guide for the Bayreuth Festival, was updated on 31 July and released for free in major app stores. The update introduces two interactive features.

The "Auf Wagners Spuren" audiowalk lets users explore Richard Wagner’s life as they move from his former residence, Wahnfried, to the Festspielhaus, with narration by local voice‑artists Oliver Hepp and Stefan Schneller.

The new "Festival‑Match" function applies a dating‑app style swipe system to the festival programme: a right swipe marks interest in an event, a left swipe skips it, creating a personalized schedule that can be saved and revisited. Project leader Florian André Unterburger described it as a way to discover events “as easily and intuitively as ever”.

Mayor Dr Andreas Zippel praised the audiowalk as a modern cultural offering that helps both residents and tourists experience the city in a new way. The development was supported by the Studiobühne Bayreuth and the city’s cultural office.
