Catalan municipalities implement new transport, tourism, and environmental projects

Various municipalities in Catalonia are implementing new local initiatives and infrastructure projects.

In Rubí, the municipal council unanimously approved a new on-demand bus service for residential areas, expected to launch in January 2027 with a budget between 1.75 and 2.5 million euros. Additionally, the city will plant 261 trees across 64 locations by the end of the year to increase urban shade and recover lost vegetation.

Vilanova i la Geltrú is inaugurating a new Tourist Information Centre at Ribes Roges, featuring digital interactive tools and a tourism intelligence system. The project, part of a sustainability plan, involved an investment of over 2 million euros.

In Sant Cugat, the municipal council is addressing fiscal matters, including modifications to property tax (IBI) and waste fees for 2027, alongside urban planning and mobility discussions.

Other regional activities include the 25th Empordà Interclubs Regatta in Roses, the 7th Festivart arts festival in Rubió, and various community celebrations in Prats de Rei and Vila-real.
