Festive celebrations planned across various Welsh towns

Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) has announced a series of festive events scheduled throughout November and December to bring seasonal entertainment to local town centres. Locations including Porth, Ferndale, Aberdare, and Mountain Ash will host celebrations featuring a synthetic ice rink, funfair rides, face painting, and a giant snow globe. Visitors can meet Santa at a grotto for a fee of two tokens, with activities costing one token each.

Additional celebrations are planned for Pontypridd, Treorchy, Tonypandy, Pontyclun, and Llantrisant, supported by council funding. Organisers aim to provide affordable entertainment while encouraging residents to support local shops, markets, and restaurants.

In Cardigan, the annual Giant Lantern Parade is scheduled for December 11. This year’s theme focuses on the magic of the forest, utilizing illuminated tree sculptures and forest creature lanterns to highlight the importance of protecting and restoring temperate rainforests. The event, organized in collaboration with Small World Theatre, The Wildlife Trusts, and The Black Lion, features giant puppetry and live music.
