Fetu Samoa defeats Wales 76-0 in Women’s Rugby League World Cup

Fetu Samoa secured their largest-ever win in women’s international rugby league, defeating Wales 76-0 at CommBank Stadium. The victory keeps their hopes of reaching a Women’s Rugby League World Cup semi-final alive.

Samoa’s performance was highlighted by a 14-try total. Debutant Tyra Ekepati scored a hat-trick, while Amber Hall was named Player of the Match for her dominant performance, which included a try, nine broken tackles, and 108 metres gained. Halfback Pauline Piliae-Rasabale set a national record by successfully kicking 10 conversions.

The result marks Samoa’s first Women’s World Cup win in 18 years. Their progression now depends on the outcome of the match between Australia and England; if Australia defeats England, Samoa will face England in Wollongong next Friday to decide who advances to the semi-finals.
