FEU student films selected for FAMAS Short Film Festival 2026

Two short films produced by Far Eastern University (FEU) Department of Communication students, “Kahel” and “Lily,” have been named official selections for the FAMAS Short Film Festival 2026. The festival is organized by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences in partnership with REMS Entertainment.

“Kahel,” directed by Garnet Morilla Llames under the Kuwerdas production team, is a musical short following a corporate worker who leaves his job to pursue music. The film has previously received accolades at Sinepiyu XVIII and the 38th CCP Gawad Alternatibo.

“Lily,” directed by Luke Salazar under The Yellow Bus Pictures, is a character study inspired by poetry that explores the realities of sex work in the Philippines. The film has won various campus competitions, including the Tamaraw Media Awards and Realifilm at Adamson University. Both films originated as classroom projects in a directing and film production course.

The festival's Nomination Night is scheduled for October 9, with the Awards Night following on November 11.
