FEUC presidential candidates debate student violence

Candidates for the FEUC presidency participated in their first debate at Radio UC, where the central topic was recent violence against students. Candidates addressed reports of attacks on members of the Movimiento Gremial (MG) and Solidaridad UC by hooded individuals during a mobilization organized by the Confederation of Chilean Students (CONFECH).

During the debate, candidates from the Avanzar and Nueva Acción Universitaria (NAU) lists condemned the violence, stating it undermines university democracy. Representatives from the Movimiento Gremial criticized the current FEUC leadership for its association with CONFECH, suggesting such affiliations contribute to unrest. The Amanecer pact candidate, Maksin Baeza, did not participate in the debate, citing a commitment to student calls for academic suspension and street protests.
