Feyenoord evaluates renovation and new construction for De Kuip
Feyenoord director Robert Eenhoorn is exploring multiple options for the future of the De Kuip stadium. The club is considering both a thorough renovation of the existing structure and the construction of a new stadium at the current location.
Architect Nanne de Ru of TeamDeKuip has presented a renovation proposal, while other companies, some previously involved in Feyenoord City plans, have proposed a phased demolition and reconstruction. This phased approach could potentially allow the club to continue playing home matches during construction.
Since July, Feyenoord has held over 95 percent of the stadium shares, granting the club significant control over its future. Before making major investments, Eenhoorn intends to determine the technical lifespan of the current stadium, specifically whether it can remain functional for another 50 to 70 years.
Other considerations include sustainability, addressing maintenance backlogs, and increasing capacity by approximately 10,000 seats to meet the growing demand for season tickets and business seats. The club has not yet committed to any specific plan.
