Feyenoord finds replacement for Ayo Ueda with Nacho Ferri
Feyenoord has successfully filled the void left by Japanese forward Ayo Ueda following his transfer to Lille for approximately 15 million euros. Former Dutch international Theo Janssen noted that the club does not miss Ueda, citing the effective performance of Nacho Ferri.
Janssen explained that while Ueda was a prolific scorer—finishing as the Eredivisie top scorer last season with 25 league goals—his playing style differs significantly from Ferri's. While Ueda operated primarily within the penalty area, Ferri offers high physicality, extensive work rate, and movement that better suits Feyenoord's current tactical approach.
Ferri has demonstrated this impact by scoring six goals in his last four league matches, tying for the top of the scoring rankings. Ueda's departure follows a successful three-year tenure in the Netherlands and a strong showing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
