Feyenoord inaugurates De Kuip Cup as Dutch clubs unveil preseason schedules
Feyenoord announced that the traditional season‑opening friendly will be renamed the De Kuip Cup. The inaugural edition will be played on 2 August at De Kuip against Italian side Atalanta Bergamo, featuring a memorial ceremony for former players and supporters, a reunion of Feyenoord Legends, and a trophy design inspired by the stadium’s dome. The match will include two 15‑minute extra‑time periods regardless of the score after 90 minutes.
Other Eredivisie clubs released their preseason programmes. ADO Den Haag will face Belgian and Greek teams such as KV Mechelen, Lommel SK and Asteras Aktor. Ajax’s schedule includes fixtures against Panathinaikos, AEK Larnaca, VfL Bochum, Olympiakos Piraeus, FK Vojvodina and Burnley, as well as a Conference‑League qualifier versus FC Volendam. AZ Alkmaar hosts Jong AZ, AA Gent, Almere City, SV Zulte‑Waregem, RC Genk and Olympiakos Piraeus, and will meet PSV in the Johan Cruijff Schaal. SC Cambuur and Excelsior also listed multiple friendlies against domestic and foreign opponents.
