Feyenoord reports €12.6 million annual loss
Feyenoord has reported a net loss of €12.6 million for the recent financial year. This figure includes a significant impairment of €14.4 million; without this specific item, the club would have recorded a positive result of €1.8 million.
The financial downturn is largely attributed to a sharp decline in revenue following the club's transition from the Champions League to the Europa League. Total revenue dropped from €76.7 million to €22.3 million in the European context, contributing to a total turnover of €115.2 million.
Despite the drop in income, operating expenses remained high at approximately €141 million, resulting in an operating loss of €25.7 million. Costs such as salaries and social charges have seen a steady increase over recent seasons. Additionally, the club's transfer activities provided a player result of €9.4 million, as €62.6 million in compensation was offset by €53.2 million in depreciation and write-offs. The financial position is further impacted by transfer obligations for new players, such as Nacho Ferri and Charles Vanhoutte, which were recorded in the current fiscal year.
