Feyenoord strengthens youth academy strategy with new contracts
Feyenoord is increasingly utilizing its youth academy, Varkenoord, by securing long-term contracts for young talents. Under current FIFA regulations, players under eighteen can be signed for up to three years, though this may extend to five years starting January 1, 2027. The club's financial records show a significant focus on youth and women's team integration, with dozens of youth players currently under contract.
As a specific example of this strategy, 18-year-old attacker Levi Haps is set to sign a three-year contract with the club. Haps, who joined Feyenoord from Royal Antwerp last summer, has demonstrated rapid progress, recording eight goals and two assists in just four matches for the Feyenoord U19 team. His performance has led to training sessions with the first team and a debut for the Netherlands U19 national team.
