Feyenoord undergoes financial restructuring and squad reduction

Club watcher Martijn Krabbendam notes that the current leadership has been tasked with 'sanitizing' the organization, specifically addressing the excessive size of the player squad. Krabbendam highlighted that managing 44 contracted players is an unsustainable number that creates both high costs and sporting challenges regarding playing time.

While the club leadership has been transparent about the necessity of these changes, Michel van Egmond pointed out the inherent dilemma in professional football: the pressure to perform on the pitch often conflicts with long-term restructuring efforts.
