Fez education inspector suspended over sexual harassment allegations
A secondary education inspector in Fez, Morocco, has been temporarily suspended from work and had his salary suspended, excluding family allowances, following allegations of sending sexually explicit electronic messages. The decision was made by the regional directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and the case has been referred to a disciplinary council.
The legal proceedings began after a social studies teacher filed a complaint regarding sexual messages and conversations exchanged via an instant messaging application. Judicial police investigations included examining the digital data and conducting confrontations between parties. The inspector faces charges including sexual harassment via electronic messages and recordings, as well as incitement to prostitution.
During the investigation, the inspector admitted to sending some of the messages in question but claimed he did not know the identity of the recipient. Although the complainant has since withdrawn the complaint, the judicial process continues. The first court session is scheduled for October 20, 2026, while the administrative disciplinary process remains independent of the legal proceedings.
