Fez Festival of Sufic Culture focuses on Sufi poetry
The 18th edition of the Fez Festival of Sufic Culture and World Wisdom is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 24 in Fez, Morocco. Held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, this year's theme is ‘Sufi Poetry: Elixir of Healing.’
The festival aims to explore the relationship between Sufism and poetry, examining how spiritual heritage can enrich human thought and address contemporary issues. The program features roundtables with researchers, writers, and thinkers to discuss the ability of Sufi poetry to express the unseen and facilitate internal human transformation. Special attention will be given to the works of Jalal al-Din Rumi, specifically the ‘Masnavi.’
Cultural activities include musical performances, workshops, and exhibitions held at various locations such as Bab al-Makina, Jnan Sbil Garden, and the Shamsi School of Arts and Crafts. Musical highlights include sessions featuring the Qadiri Boutchichiya and Hammadcha orders, as well as performances blending the works of Johann Sebastian Bach with Rumi's poetry and North Indian Dhrupad traditions.
