The decision to reopen the case follows a press conference held by El Faiq's legal counsel, which revealed new details not included in the original June 2025 submission. These new details reportedly involve significant sums of money and meetings held within the House of Representatives involving prominent political figures.

Previously, the investigation had been temporarily suspended in August 2025 because El Faiq, then an inmate at Ras El Ma prison, declined to provide statements during three separate attempts by the Deputy Public Prosecutor. The prosecutor noted that the inmate cited exhaustion and a hunger strike as reasons for his refusal to cooperate. The prosecution intends to pursue the investigation and take necessary legal actions based on the newly disclosed information.
