Hong Kong announces fashion festival, AI payment trials, and new Tokyo office

The third edition of the Hong Kong Fashion Fest is scheduled to take place from September 1 to 14. Presented by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, the event will feature over 300 local and international design entities. The festival includes eight flagship programmes such as the Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2026, the 5th Hong Kong Denim Festival, and the CENTRESTAGE international fashion showcase. Public admission to exhibitions is free.

In the financial sector, HKT Payment Limited has been selected to participate in the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Sandbox++ initiative. In collaboration with Red Date Technology, HKT aims to develop an ‘Agentic ID’ framework using Decentralised Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs). This framework is designed to verify AI agents initiating payment flows, providing a secure audit trail and mitigating impersonation risks.

Additionally, Hong Kong-based FGA Trust has established a representative office in Shibuya, Tokyo. Led by Mone Ota, the office will serve as a Japanese-language liaison for clients requiring cross-border trust and succession-planning services between Japan and Hong Kong.
