Mexico security operations lead to multiple arrests in Puebla and Oaxaca
Mexican authorities have conducted several high-profile operations targeting organized crime and corruption. In the Hidalgo and Puebla region, the FGR has detained eight individuals in connection with the disappearance of two CFE workers, Marco Antonio Sarmiento García and Adolfo López Saldaña. While the suspects are in custody, the whereabouts of the workers remain unknown.
In Puebla, security forces including the Navy and local police arrested three suspected members of the CJNG. The detainees, including individuals known as “El Comandante RH” and “El Chino,” are linked to homicides, vehicle theft, and illegal deprivation of liberty.
In Oaxaca, the state government reported significant security results from January to August, including over 1,400 arrests and the seizure of more than 6,000 vehicles. Concurrently, the state prosecutor has linked the ASAEO labor union to serious crimes, including homicide, extortion, and drug trafficking, following an operation that targeted its leadership.
Other notable legal developments include the prosecution of four individuals for migrant trafficking in Tamaulipas and an investigation into the Progen case in Ecuador involving electrical generation contracts.
