FGTS birthday withdrawals open for September-born workers

Workers born in September who have opted into the FGTS ‘saque-aniversário’ (birthday withdrawal) modality can now access a portion of their account balances. The withdrawal period began on September 1 and will remain open until November 30.

The amount available for withdrawal is determined by a progressive scale based on the total balance in the worker's accounts. For balances up to R$ 500, the rate is 50% with no additional installment. For balances exceeding R$ 20,000, the rate is 5% plus an additional installment of R$ 2,900. Other tiers include rates ranging from 10% to 40% with varying additional installments.

Participation is not automatic; workers must have previously selected this modality through official channels, such as the Caixa Econômica Federal app. It is important to note that choosing the birthday withdrawal option changes the rules for dismissal without just cause. Under this modality, workers cannot withdraw the full balance of their FGTS account upon dismissal, retaining only the right to the rescission fine.
