FGTS Council increases Minha Casa, Minha Vida subsidies to R$ 13 billion for 2026

The FGTS Curatorship Council has approved a R$ 500 million increase in subsidies for the Minha Casa, Minha Vida housing program for the year 2026. This adjustment raises the total subsidy amount from R$ 12.5 billion to R$ 13 billion.

The additional funds are specifically intended for families in categories 1 and 2 of the program, which serve households with monthly incomes of up to R$ 5,000. These subsidies act as direct discounts on property purchases and do not require repayment by the beneficiaries. Johnny Ferreira dos Santos, the general coordinator of FGTS Management at the Ministry of Cities, stated that the increase provides a crucial operational safety margin to ensure resource availability and flexibility among financial agents.

Other FGTS budget allocations remain unchanged, including R$ 144.5 billion for housing, R$ 8 billion for sanitation, R$ 8 billion for infrastructure, and R$ 8.5 billion for health. Discussions regarding the multi-year plan for 2027 through 2029 are scheduled for a council meeting at the end of October.

Separately, updated program parameters have expanded coverage for middle-class families with monthly incomes up to R$ 13,000, allowing for the financing of homes valued at up to R$ 600,000.
