FIA ADUO ruling awards development token to Red Bull, prompting Red Bull to demand data

The FIA released the first ADUO assessment during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, concluding that Red Bull's internal‑combustion engine was the strongest among the five power‑unit suppliers. As a result, Red Bull received an ADUO development token, while Mercedes, which had expected to top the ranking, was left out. Red Bull described the outcome as unexpected and asked the FIA for access to the data and methodology used in the evaluation, saying, “I think we were all a bit surprised by that news.” The FIA’s analysis focused solely on ICE performance, ignoring other components such as the battery and MGU‑K. Honda’s F1 director, Shintaro Orihara, said the results “pretty much line up with what we see.” Mercedes can now use the token to upgrade its engine, having already won the first six races of the season.
