FIA and ACO sign 10-year extension for World Endurance Championship

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) have announced a landmark 10-year agreement to extend their partnership for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The new deal, which begins after the current contract expires at the end of 2027, will secure the championship through the end of 2037.

The agreement aims to stabilize the sport following recent reports of potential tensions between the two governing bodies. Under the terms, the FIA and ACO will maintain joint oversight of regulatory processes through FIA Working Groups and the FIA Endurance Commission. Additionally, both organizations will share responsibility for the homologation of vehicles in the Hypercar class.

The partnership also includes provisions for increased FIA branding visibility during broadcasts and at key event locations, such as the podium and parc fermé. This extension comes during a period of growth for the WEC, which has seen rising interest from manufacturers and fans following the 2021 introduction of Hypercar regulations.
