FIA lifts restrictions for Russian and Belarusian motorsport competitors

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has lifted restrictions on drivers, teams, and officials from Russia and Belarus. Following a decision by the World Motor Sport Council, participants from these nations are no longer required to compete under a neutral flag or sign a formal commitment to political neutrality.

Under the new regulations, Russian and Belarusian competitors are permitted to display their national colors, flags, and symbols on uniforms, equipment, and vehicles. Additionally, their respective national anthems may be played on podiums during international and regional competitions. This change marks a significant shift from the measures implemented in early 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine.

Despite this easing of restrictions for individual competitors, the FIA maintains its ban on hosting international or regional motorsport events within Russian and Belarusian territory. The organization stated it will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine and reserves the right to implement further measures if necessary to comply with evolving sanctions or legal requirements.
