FIA President calls for end to online abuse of stewards

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has issued a renewed appeal to end the online abuse directed at race stewards. This call comes ahead of the Formula One Italian Grand Prix at Monza, following recent targeting of officials after they applied sporting penalties during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

Ben Sulayem, who founded the FIA’s United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) campaign in 2023, emphasized that while disagreement with sporting decisions is a natural part of the sport, it does not justify personal attacks or threats. The UAOA is a global initiative endorsed by over 75 governments, academic institutions, and technology organizations, and receives co-funding from the European Union.
