FIA report requested in Jamaat-e-Islami complaint against Shabbar Zaidy

A court in Karachi has requested an initial report from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding a complaint filed by Jamaat-e-Islami against former FBR Chairman Shabbar Zaidy.

The complaint, filed by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi General Secretary Taufiquddin Siddiqui, follows an online interview conducted by Zaidy on June 10. In the interview, Zaidy allegedly made claims against the political party and its leader, describing Jamaat-e-Islami as a “firewall” that limits public issues and protests, and accusing the group of taking money to manage protests.

Siddiqui sought legal action after Zaidy reportedly failed to retract these statements following a legal notice sent in August. The court has directed the FIA to submit its preliminary report within 30 days.
