Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to host FIA WEC debut
The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) makes its historic debut at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the penultimate round of the 2026 season. This six-hour race replaces the previously scheduled event in Qatar, which was cancelled due to conflict in West Asia.
The race serves as a critical juncture for the championship title. Toyota Racing enters the event with a significant advantage in the standings, but manufacturers including BMW and Ferrari remain mathematically in contention. The competition is expected to be intense, with ten cars still in the hunt for the championship.
While the LMGT3 class is familiar with the Spanish circuit through other series, the Hypercar class faces a new challenge as the track is largely unknown territory for these top-tier teams. Factors such as tire management and unpredictable weather conditions are expected to play decisive roles in the outcome.
