FIAA 2026 in Madrid showcases electric bus innovations

The FIAA 2026 exhibition in Madrid showcased significant advancements in the bus and coach industry, focusing on zero-emission technologies, digitalization, and fleet management. Key product launches included the 15-metre Irizar i3 electric, the Marcopolo–Volvo Paradiso G8, the Iveco Bus eFlexy, and a 13-metre BYD–Castrosua Low Entry model. The event also marked the debut of Farizon and Zeroid in the Spanish market.

The Sustainable Bus Awards 2027 were presented during the event, recognizing innovation in various propulsion technologies. The Solaris Urbino 18 Hydrogen New Generation won the Urban award, the battery-electric BYD B12.b HF took the Intercity category, and the Irizar i6S Efficient Scania PHEV received the Coach award.

Industry experts and representatives from companies such as McKinsey & Company, Moventis, ANAV, and Arriva Spain participated in discussions regarding the transition to zero-emission vehicles. These sessions addressed topics including autonomous driving, charging infrastructure, energy management, and the evolving European regulatory framework.
