FIALS warns of staffing crisis in Italy's ASL home care services
The Italian health‑workers union FIALS has raised urgent concerns about the future of integrated home‑care assistance (ADI) in the ASL Brindisi area. It has asked for an immediate meeting with the President of the Puglia Region, the regional health assessor and the director of the Department of Health Promotion to discuss occupational guarantees for staff, continuity of care for vulnerable citizens and the future management model, including internalisation versus outsourcing.
FIALS also criticised the ASL of Alessandria, describing brutal shift patterns, chronic nurse shortages of more than 200 positions and a disregard for previously negotiated agreements. The union says the situation endangers the right to health, strains workers’ physical and mental health and threatens the quality of patient care, and it is demanding concrete responses and respect for contractual regulations.
