Fiat developing Koala compact electric vehicle

Fiat is developing a new compact, zero-emission electric vehicle that may be named the Koala. According to Fiat CEO Arnaud Belloni and design chief François Leboine, the model is being built on the Stellantis E-Car platform.

The vehicle is expected to debut in 2027, with production scheduled to begin in 2028 at the Pomigliano d’Arco plant in Italy. The project shares technical architecture with the upcoming electric Citroën 2CV, a synergy intended to optimize production and reduce costs for the European market.

Unlike the Fiat Topolino, which is categorized as a light quadricycle, the Koala is intended to be a full segment A urban passenger car. The design may feature a more squared body shape to prioritize interior space, drawing inspiration from Japanese kei cars while remaining larger to fit European standards.
