Fiat Grande Panda hybrid SUV to launch in Japan on November 7
Stellantis Japan has announced the upcoming release of the Fiat Grande Panda, a new B-segment compact SUV, scheduled for launch in Japan on November 7. The vehicle is a fourth-generation reinterpretation of the original 1980 Panda, blending retro design elements with modern functionality.
The Grande Panda features a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.2L three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This system produces a combined maximum output of 110ps. The vehicle is capable of limited EV driving at speeds below 30km/h.
Design elements draw inspiration from the historic Lingotto factory in Turin, Italy, including oval shapes and pixelated lighting graphics. The interior emphasizes sustainability, utilizing recycled materials and, in the ‘La Prima’ trim, bamboo fiber. Pricing for the new model starts at 3.69 million yen for the ‘Icon’ grade, with the ‘La Prima’ grade priced between 4.09 and 4.145 million yen.
