Fiat plans affordable electric Koala city car

Fiat is developing a new electric city car named the Koala, aimed at providing an affordable entry point into the electric vehicle market. The model is expected to be priced below 15,000 euros and will serve as an electric alternative to the current Pandina.

According to Arnauld Belloni, the CEO of Fiat, Abarth, and Lancia, the Koala will share a platform and mechanical components with the upcoming Citroen 2CV. This strategy aligns with the European Union's E-Car segment, which focuses on accessible electric mobility. Unlike the Fiat 500, the Koala will not feature a retro design, focusing instead on practicality and budget-conscious consumers.

Design Director François Leboine indicated that the project is well advanced. While specific images have not been released, the vehicle is expected to launch around 2027 or 2028. The Koala will sit below the Grande Panda and the Grizzly SUV in Fiat's upcoming lineup.
