Fiat Professional marks 45 years of Ducato van production
Fiat Professional commemorated the 45th anniversary of the Ducato van, which has been in continuous production since 1981. Over the four and a half decades the model has seen three‑and‑a‑half million units built, serving artisans, businesses, courier services and families across Europe.
The van’s versatility has made it a benchmark in the large‑van segment, pioneering features such as front‑wheel drive and a car‑like driving position. It also dominates the motorhome market, with about 1.6 million chassis supplied to camper manufacturers and a record 17‑year run as the “Most Popular Motorhome Base Vehicle” in a German poll.
Fiat’s latest offering, the fully electric E‑Ducato, delivers up to 424 km of WLTP range and can charge from 0 % to 80 % in roughly 55 minutes, underscoring the brand’s push toward low‑emission commercial mobility. Production remains centred at the Atessa plant in Italy and a facility in Poland, ensuring capacity for the dynamic European market.
